Looking for a relaxed wedding photographer in the North West?
Hi, I’m Dave.
And I genuinely love photographing weddings.
Not just how they look — but how they feel.
The emotions that catch you off guard.
The quiet moments no one else notices.
The atmosphere, the people, the energy of the day.
That’s the good stuff. And that’s what I’m there to capture.
My approach is simple — you enjoy your wedding.
I’ll step in with calm, experienced direction when it’s needed, but mostly blend into the background so you can forget the camera entirely.
No awkward posing. No being pulled away for hours.
Just space to be fully present with the people you care about most.

Why I include a wedding album
Your photographs shouldn’t live on a screen.
They should be held. Shared. Passed around the room.
Revisited on anniversaries. Shown to future generations.
That’s why I include a handcrafted wedding album.
Not as an extra - but as a fundamental part of how your story is told.
Because years from now, when the day has moved on, this is what brings it all back.
A tangible reminder of how it felt to be there.
‘Thank you so much Dave, you went above and beyond all our expectations. You captured so much of the day that we’d missed, it was absolutely fantastic to see our wedding day story told through your photographs’

Looking for a relaxed wedding photographer in Manchester or Cheshire?
Your wedding day will be full of stories that deserve to be seen and remembered. It’s not just the major milestones, but all the fleeting moments in between. A glance across the room, a quick squeeze of the hand, or laughter that leaves you breathless.
Based in Greater Manchester, my approach is thoughtful, calm, and entirely unobtrusive. I step in with gentle direction only when it benefits you, blending into the background for the rest of the celebrations. This is my signature documentary style which allows you to stay fully present in your wedding day, whilst I ensure that your gallery is filled with natural, honest stories rather than forced smiles or stiff poses.
Whether you are planning an intimate city center celebration or a countryside wedding in Cheshire, I’m here to capture the genuine emotion beneath the day.
Let’s create a tangible legacy that you, your family, and future generations will hold onto forever.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
My approach is relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography focused on storytelling rather than creating lots of posed or staged images. Most of the day I’ll quietly capture things as they naturally happen - the laughs, nerves, hugs, chaos and little in-between moments - with a few relaxed and fun portraits mixed in.
-
Absolutely, and honestly, most of my couples feel this way before their wedding. I believe your wedding day should feel like your wedding day, not a photoshoot, so I keep the portraits relaxed and fun, guiding you when needed, but without stiff posing or hours away from your guests.
As a documentary wedding photographer, most of the day is capturing genuine moments of you simply being you, rather than making you perform for the camera. -
Absolutely. I’m a professional documentary wedding photographer based in Sale, Greater Manchester, and I primarily photograph weddings across Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.
I also regularly cover weddings in North Wales, Yorkshire and Derbyshire, with clear and transparent travel pricing provided upfront.
So whether you’re getting married at a rustic barn in the Cheshire or Derbyshire countryside, a historic manor house in Lancashire or Yorkshire, a scenic Welsh coastal location, or a stylish Manchester city-centre venue, I’m always happy to travel for the right wedding.

Documentary wedding photography means capturing your day naturally as it unfolds. Rather than stopping the action or asking you to repeat moments, the photographer quietly observes and photographs the day as it happens.
My approach blends documentary wedding photography with storytelling, focusing on genuine emotions, unscripted laughter, and honest moments. The aim is for you to fully enjoy your wedding day instead of feeling like you’re on a fashion shoot, while still getting calm guidance for family photos and a few relaxed couple portraits.
-
Most of my couples book their wedding photographer around 6 to 12 months in advance. Occasionally, dates are secured 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for summer-season Saturday weddings.
However, I also regularly take bookings a few months before the wedding, and I can often accommodate shorter notice dates if I still have availability.
It simply comes down to whether your date is still open in my diary. So if you have already secured your venue and confirmed your wedding date, it is always recommended to get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
-
Definitely. I love smaller weddings, city ceremonies and registry office weddings just as much as large celebrations. Smaller weddings often have a really relaxed atmosphere that works perfectly for documentary photography. I even have a specific package just for this type of wedding. I firmly believe that your wedding photographs shouldn't spend their lives forgotten on a digital screen or a USB drive. A wedding is a piece of family history, and your images deserve to be held, shared, passed around the room, and looked back on every single anniversary. That’s why I include a beautifully finished, handcrafted wedding album as a core part of my storytelling process, rather than an expensive add-on.
These archival-quality albums are designed to become your first family heirloom, a tangible reminder of exactly how it felt to be surrounded by the people you love most.
